St James Church, Wield
Wield consists of two settlements, Upper Wield, with the church, and the smaller Lower Wield. The church of St James stands near a bridleway which once formed part of the ancient thoroughfare from Winchester to Odiham. Built about 1150, at the instigation of Henry de Blois who as Bishop of Winchester founded and beautified many churches. It is a perfect example of the small type of Norman Hampshire church
