This Cache is located on the route to one of the 'Seven wonders of St. Helena': The Heart shaped Waterfall. It can be completed as a short walk, but I think it is much better started from the center of Jamestown taking in some of its hidden secrets.
The short walk can be started from the parking place and using Trailhead 2. The cache is located on the route to the Heart Shaped Waterfall, unfortunately due to the steep valley sides beyond the cache location GPS becomes unpredictable but please do continue to the end as it is a very special place, even more so if the weather is slightly wetter as then the waterfall may be running as it does dry up in the warmer months but is still very pretty.
I would advise taking a leisurely walk from the center of Jamestown: Starting at the Canister tourist office (TO). Head right up market street towards the Standard pub and the start of the walk at (T1) behind the pub. Stop for a drink if you wish and then continue up the course of the now controlled stream that formed the valley, locally known as the RUN. This pretty walk takes in the back of the buildings of Jamestown and is less steep that the road. Continue along this waterway crossing to the left bank once after a short distance. Eventually you will come to a disused play ground near the old quarry at the top of the town. Go through the playground to cross the run and climb the steps near the Hospital. Turn left towards (R1) at Newbridge. Refreshments can usually be purchased at Adrian's shop here. (carry plenty of water or other beverages, it can be hot!) Follow the quiet road past the plantations and gardens below around several corners (short cuts can be made if you see the paths) until you come to a U bend and a small track called Barnes road.(R2). After a short distance you will come to a parking area (with a porta loo!) (PK and T2). From here follow the wooden walkways down towards the cache location. It is a standard sandwich box, located along the trail. As mentioned beyond the cache GPS signals go mad. But do walk to the end were a lovely picnic area has been built.
The return route is the same back to new bridge but you could walk past the hospital and down the street which will return you to the tourist office. Good hunting.
For anyone wanting a longer walk or a second cache in one day: from the start of Barnes road (R2) Turn up hill on the road to the top and then turn left for a few yards before you come to Field road. A short distance up Field road you will come to reference point (T1) on cache number GC446EM TOPGUNS
ref: S15 56.058 W5 42.519 the overall walk is not that longer but does include more up hill and splendid views. You will still return to the center of Jamestown Enjoy
