The cross was built to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of Jesus Christ and the 300th anniversary of the “St. Nicolaus”-Parish of Barban.

The chapel next to the cross is dedicated to Holy Mary of Karmel. On her day of rememberence there is a open-air religious service.

The cache is located about 90 meters away from the cross so that you can log without muggles. You can choose whether you want a drive-in cache or have a tiny little walk from the parking area (N 45° 04. 249 / E 13° 57. 226).
