The origin of Patros
It is in Paris, France in the 19th century, the adventure begins Patros. In 1833, Frederic Ozanam founded the work of the Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul to help the poorest of the community. In 1845, Jean-Léon Le Prevost, with his companions and Maurice Clément Myionnet Maignen, founded the Institute of the Brothers of St. Vincent de Paul. The patronage of the rue du Regard is initiated and the history of Patros begins.
The Patros in Canada
Religious of Saint Vincent de Paul arrived in Canada in Quebec City in 1884. The following year, already a first Patro is created: Patro Vincentde Saint-Paul in Quebec. Over the years, several other Patros were founded by the religious community. Today, there are seven Canadian Patros, including six in the province of Quebec and one in Ontario: Patro d'Ottawa.

En 1833, Frédéric Ozanam fonde l’oeuvre des Conférences de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, afin de venir en aide aux plus démunis de son milieu. En 1845, Jean-Léon Le Prevost, avec ses compagnons Clément Myionnet et Maurice Maignen, fonde l’Institut des Frères de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. Le patronage de la rue du Regard est amorcé et l’histoire des Patros commence.
Les Patros au Canada
Les Religieux de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul arrivent au Canada, dans la ville de Québec, en 1884. L’année suivante, déjà, un premier Patro est créé : le Patro Saint-Vincentde-Paul de Québec. Au fil des ans, plusieurs autres Patros sont fondés par la communauté religieuse. Aujourd’hui, on compte sept Patros canadiens, dont six dans la province de Québec et un seul en Ontario : le Patro d’Ottawa.
