Geocache Description:

A traditional cache, but with some clues that need to found, but designed to be easier than many in the Cambridge area.

This is a traditional cache, but with some clues that need to found, but designed to be easier than many in the Cambridge area. Almost all of Cambridge's Colleges have playing fields, and this cache will take you to where two almost coincide: Gonville & Caius and Newnham. You can also see the greend open space of Lammas Land.

The Starting point is near the entrance to the Gonville & Caius playing field, and at the red-brick houses there two paths or alleys you could follow, as well as Summerfield Road directly in front of the houses. One path, to the side of the redbrick house, is Churchrate Walk and leads off up to the main entrance of Ridley Hall Theological College and Newnham College's main entrance. The other, parallel with Summerfield Road and the playing field is the one to follow. Along this path, find the answers to the following clues:
  • A = how many wooden posts are at the entrance to the Gonville & Caius playing fields?
  • B = further down the path, on the right hand side is a telephone pole whose code starts 'DP' and has 4 digits. What's the third digit?
  • C = further down the path, at the white hall of residence for Darwin College, how many bulkhead lights are there at about knee height?
  • D = further down the path, at the end of the path near the gate to the Newnham playing fields is another telephone pole: what's the single black digit on it?
  • E = by this gate a new lane starts with housing. What's the number of the first house?
Then work out the final coordinates as N 52 11.E(C-3)B E 0 6.(A+1)D(B-1).

The cache is an smallish lock'n'lock box, and contains some swaps and a TB for the first to find. Enjoy!

Congratulations to tjwinch on his first FTF!
