This museum pays tribute to a Lake City-born astronaut and physicist who died in the Challenger shuttle explosion in 1986. The museum chronologically follows his life from a young boy fascinated with science and math who overcame the discrimination of the 1960s South to become a pioneer in the field of lasers. The museum is adjacent to the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Memorial Park.
