A small cache with some room for trackables

The pecan business in Florence began in the early 1920s when TB Young began shipping in-shell pecans. In 1945, his son moved into pecan shelling and wholesale distribution. The family continued to build the business which grew to become the largest sheller in the pecan industry.

The company was an innovative leader in the pecan shelling industry, being the first to use on-site cold storage to preserve the crop, first to utilize laser technology for shell removal, and first to use microwave technology for bacteria control.

This The retail market began in 1969, and this location now carries products of South Carolina along with its packaged pecans. The outlet offers free flavored pecan samples on the back counter.
