The focus of this year’s event is:
Hinders = hiding quality caches,
Finders = caching on their own time.
We want as many cachers as possible to visit as many of the caches during the summer as possible.
So it’s not about the numbers, it’s about quality caches and the fun finding them!
We are looking for about 30 caches.

Steps for a great family event:

Skip parts 1 and 2 if you are not hiding caches for this event

1. HIDE QUALITY CACHES (Please coordinate with Event Organizer)
Starting immediately, get out in the sunshine and find some cache hiding spots and find some of the caches you have not found yet.
This year’s theme is “Geocaching Edmonton Series of Poker”.
This means all the caches will be big enough to hold a deck of cards and the other normal cache pieces.
If you think you want to hide a cache, please
See the FAQ at: www.geocachingedmonton.com

and contact the event organizer, as there are some special requirements.

All CARS2013 caches should be medium or large sized. Of course, all caches must contain a deck of cards, log book, and should have a pencil and some trading items. Micro and Nano caches can be a part of a multi or puzzle but not the final. No Premium only hides (convert after the event please), and please DO NOT USE your smart phone to hide a cache. All CARS2013 caches must be maintained as required over the event period (and of course after).
(note: decks of cards)

The cache placement radius limit this year will accommodate the quality focus. (graphic displays a radius similar to previous Edmonton CAR radii)

All cache pages should include a Reviewer's Note, and MUST include CARS2013 at the beginning of the title. For example, “CARS2013 - Champion’s Poker Cache” would suffice. Please no spaces in CARS2013, this is due to the new search feature.
Please help “Cache Effect” in making your submissions as complete as possible and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner as coordinated by the cache placer and Event organizer. Cache pages should use the following text (box not required):

1. This is a CARS2013 cache it will contain a deck of cards from publishing up to 8 September 2013.
2. Please take only one set of two cards per cache login.
3. You can hunt for this cache as soon as it is published.

4. Please consider this cache as nominated for the –Best Terrain 1 cache, YES, I'm wheelchair accessible! category-.

2. NOMINATE YOURSELF FOR A CACHE HIDER CATEGORY
The event focus of quality caches that everyone can enjoy. Remember you must nominate yourself for a category, if you wish to compete for a cache hide prize. TWO things are required, one: on your cache page say which prize category you are trying for, and send a email to the event owners to help put together the score-sheets. The main prize categories are focused on the finders, but there will be a few prizes for hiders.

3. FIND SOME CACHES, GRAB SOME CARDS and VOTE
Scoring sheet will likely be a cacher responsibility.
Grab one set of two cards from each event related cache. Please remember which cache they came from, to help you do this write on the cards the cache name (if not there) and your own cache name.
The cards will be taped together so you will not know what they are. Please do not open them until your arrive at the wrap-up and find the cache owner’s poker table.

4. ATTEND THE WRAP-UP and HAND IN YOUR CARDS and VOTE SHEETS
Hand your cards back to the cache owner, ensuring your identity is on the cards.
EVENT WRAP-UP START TIME: 1130 hrs 8 September 2013, Emily Murphy Park or use the posted coordinates.
Prize categories will be:
• Best Overall Cache Hide (aka, I’m in it for the favourite points)
• Best non-traditional Cache (the cache, location, cache page and cache type all reflect a theme)
• Best Terrain 1 cache (get creative)
• Best Park and Grab
Of course there will be a few traditional honourable mentions :
• Most FTFs.
• Newest Cacher
• Furthest Distance Traveled to Attend CARS2013
5. HAVE FUN – GET INSPIRED!
6. VOLUNTEER.
Proxy players and cache owner helpers, needed

7. CAN NOT ATTEND THE WRAP-UP!
Minor oops, however you can have a proxy play your summer finds!!!

This is your event – suggestions are welcome
