Quick cache near a historical marker
Mt Equity Plantation Marker erected in 1949 by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
A 299 acre tract of land here was purchased by Thomas McKean in 1805. Land meant power when this area was being settled and the name Equity Plantation was used because it was a move to insure that Pennsylvania got it's fair share. McKean held several different positions in government during his life from Judge to Assemblyman, State Representative, Chief Justice and finally Govenor of Pa. He was known as a man with a quick temper and a gun toting outspoken advocate of independence.
