Die Playa de las Canteras
ist der über 3 km lange Sandstrand der Hauptstadt von Gran Canaria, Las Palmas. Bei Einheimischen wie Touristen ist der Strand beliebt zum Baden, Surfen oder einfach Spazierengehen. Zum Teil von einem vorgelagerten felsigen Riff, La Barra, geschützt, ist er auch für Familien mit Kindern bestens geeignet.
Entlang des gesamten Strandes, vom felsigen Kap La Puntilla im Norden bis zum Auditorio Alfredo Kraus im Süden wird der Strand von einer Strandpromenade gesäumt, dem Paseo de Las Canteras. Als Fußgängerzone lädt er zum geruhsamen Flanieren ein, jede Menge Cafés und Restaurants bieten genügend Möglichkeiten für erholsame Zwischenpausen.
Der Spaziergang führt dich zu verschiedenen Pflanzen entlang der Strandpromenade. Diese gilt es zu erkennen. Diese Aufgabe setzt gewisse botanische Kenntnisse voraus oder eine anschließende Recherche, und daher ist dieser Cache als Mystery klassifiziert. Gesucht ist jeweils der wissenschaftliche (lateinische) Name der Pflanze. Der Wert des zweiten Buchstabens der Gattung, umgesetzt nach dem üblichen System (A=1, B=2, …) ergibt den gesuchten Wert. Wüchse beispielsweise an WP1 eine Rotföhre, so wäre die Lösung: Pinus sylvestris, daher i → 9, d. h. A=9. Einen genußreichen Spaziergang und gutes Gelingen wünscht k+gw+a.
Unterwegs kannst du übrigens auch noch ein paar andere Geocaches finden.
WP 1: N 28° 07.801 W 015° 26.877
Wir beginnen in der Nähe des Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. Gegenüber der Statue des Alfredo Kraus wächst eine Gruppe von gleichartigen Pflanzen, die für Gran Canaria sehr typisch sind. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt A.
Mit einem kleinen Abstecher kannst du von hier aus auch den Geocache GC3FBHJ Las Arenas von EvilBeaver78 suchen.
WP 2: N 28° 07.831 W 015° 26.794
Welcher Baum wächst hier? Weitere Exemplare schmücken die Promenade im folgenden Abschnitt. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt B.
Der folgende Abschnitt des Strandes nennt sich Playa de La Cícer. Da dieser Teil nicht vom Riff geschützt ist, ist hier der Wellengang höher, und die Zone wird vor allem von Wellenreitern genützt. Nachwuchscacher werden sich bei N 28° 07.956 W 015° 26.576 über den Spielplatz freuen.
WP 3: N 28° 08.042 W 015° 26.468
Drei Pflanzen wachsen in dieser dreieckigen Rabatte am Ende der Calle Velarde. Betrachte die größte davon. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt C.
Wenig später gibt es bei N 28° 08.049 W 015° 26.444 noch einen Spielplatz.
Im weiteren Verlauf des Spazierganges kommst du an der Einmündung der Calle Pelayo vorbei. Von dort ist es nicht weit zum Geocache GC397X4 Las Canteras: La Cicer von EvilBeaver78. Auf dem weiteren Weg kannst du auch den Geocache GC2NHDJ Las Canteras: Peña la Vieja, ebenfalls von EvilBeaver78 suchen. Und noch ein Stück weiter kommen wir an der kleinen Bucht der Playa Chica vorbei, wo übrigens auch der Earthcache GC3903V Las Canteras Earth Cache – Gran Canaria von Laughalot beginnt.
WP 4: N 28° 08.471 W 015° 26.104
Wir spazieren weiter entlang der Playa Grande. Hier, an der Einmündung der Calle Luis Morote wächst ein Baum. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt D.
WP 5: N 28° 08.532 W 015° 26.028
Auf dem Platz am Ende der Calle Tomás Miller wachsen in dieser Rabatte unter anderem einige Exemplare einer Pflanze mit gelb-grünen Blättern. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt E.
WP 6: N 28° 08.561 W 015° 25.996
Auf der Hotelseite dieser Rabatte stehen zwei schöne Exemplare eines Baumes, welcher für die Kanarischen Inseln typisch ist. Ein weiteres Exemplar findest du bei N 28° 08.558 W 015° 25.999. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt F.
WP 7: N 28° 08.714 W 015° 25.848
Welche Pflanze spendet hier, am Ende der Calle Fuerteventura, Schatten für die Laube? Auch die folgenden Lauben werden von dieser Art beschattet. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt G.
In der Nähe, auf der Plaza Suso Mariategui, befindet sich übrigens der Geocache GC36N2Z Las Canteras: La Puntilla von EvilBeaver78.
WP 8: N 28° 08.831 W 015° 25.820
Wir kommen auf die Plaza Saulo Torón. Hier wächst eine Gruppe von Bäumen. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt H.
WP 9: N 28° 08.920 W 015° 25.881
Besonders malerisch ist der letzte Abschnitt des Strandes mit den Fischerbooten. Er wird, unter anderem hier, gesäumt von einigen Bäumen. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt I.
WP 10: N 28° 08.931 W 015° 25.876
Zum Abschluß werfen wir noch einen Blick in die Calle Prudencio Morales. Eine Reihe von Bäumen sorgen hier für Schatten. Der zweite Buchstabe der Gattung ergibt J. Update: Die schönen Bäume wurden leider gefällt. Bitte ignoriere also die derzeitigen Bäumchen und halte dich an dieses Bild – so sah es hier früher aus:
Der Cache
Jetzt setz dich hin, genieße den Blick aufs Meer – bei klarem Wetter sieht man von hier aus auch deutlich Tenerife mit dem höchsten Gipfel Spaniens, dem Pico del Teide – und rechne die Koordinaten des Finals aus:

Der Cache ist ein Small und kann kleinere Tauschobjekte und Trackables aufnehmen. Bitte sei diskret – hier können viele Muggles sein – und plaziere den Cache wieder genau so, wie du ihn gefunden hast.
Im Cache findest du auch eine Zahl für den Bonus und eine weitere für den Superbonus. Diese Caches existieren noch nicht, aber da ich hoffe, daß dieser Cache der Anfang einer Serie wird, schreib dir die Ziffern schon einmal auf.

PS: Wenn du deine botanischen Kenntnisse auffrischen möchtest, kann ich wärmstens einen Spaziergang durch den botanischen Garten, den Jardín Botánico Viera y Clavijo empfehlen. Der Garten ist wunderschön und der Eintritt ist frei.

La Playa de las Canteras es la playa de arena, larga más de 3 km, de la capital de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas. Es apreciada por habitantes y turistas para bañarse, practicar el surf o simplemente dar un paseo. En parte protegida por un arrecife rocoso situado delante, La Barra, es también apta excelentemente para familias con niños.
A lo largo de toda la playa, desde el cabo rocoso La Puntilla en el norte hasta el Auditorio Alfredo Kraus en el sur, un paseo sigue la playa, el Paseo de Las Canteras. Como zona peatonal invita a callejear tranquilamente, un montón de cafés y restaurantes ofrecen bastante posibilidades para pausas reposadas.
El paseo te conduce a diversas plantas a lo largo del Paseo de las Canteras. Es preciso identificar estas. Esa tarea requiere ciertos conocimientos botánicos o una indagación posterior, y por eso este caché es clasificado como mystery. Buscas cada vez el nombre científico (latino) de la planta. El valor de la segunda letra del género, transformado según el sistema habitual (A=1, B=2, …) da el valor buscado. Si, por ejemplo, en el WP1 crecía un pino silvestre la solución sería: Pinus sylvestris, por eso i → 9, es decir A=9. K+gw+a te desea un paseo agradable y mucho éxito.
Por cierto, en el camino puedes también encontrar algunos geocachés más.

Empezamos cerca del Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. Enfrente de la estatua de Alfredo Kraus crece un grupo de plantas de la misma especie, que son muy típicas de Gran Canaria. La segunda letra del género da A.
Desde aquí, con un pequeño rodeo puedes también buscar el geocaché GC3FBHJ Las Arenas de EvilBeaver78.
WP 2: N 28° 07.831 W 015° 26.794
¿Qué árbol crece aquí? Más ejemplares adornan el paseo en el sector siguiente. La segunda letra del género da B.
El sector siguiente de la playa se llama Playa de La Cícer. Como esta parte no está protegida por el arrecife, aquí las olas son más altas y la zona es utilizada sobre todo por surfistas. La nueva generación de cachadores disfrutará del parque infantil en N 28° 07.956 W 015° 26.576.
WP 3: N 28° 08.042 W 015° 26.468
Tres plantas diferentes crecen en este arriate triangular en el extremo de la Calle Velarde. Mira la planta mas alta. La segunda letra del género da C.
Un poco más adelante hay otro parque infantil en N 28° 08.049 W 015° 26.444.
A continuación del paseo pasas la desembocadura de la Calle Pelayo. Desde allí no está lejos el geocaché GC397X4 Las Canteras: La Cicer de EvilBeaver78. En el camino que sigue puedes también buscar el geocaché GC2NHDJ Las Canteras: Peña la Vieja, igualmente de EvilBeaver78. Y aún un poco más adelante pasamos la pequeña bahía de la Playa Chica, donde por cierto también comienza el Earthcache GC3903V Las Canteras Earth Cache – Gran Canaria de Laughalot.
WP 4: N 28° 08.471 W 015° 26.104
Continuamos el paseo a lo largo de la Playa Grande. Aquí, en la desembocadura de la Calle Luis Morote crece un árbol. La segunda letra del género da D.
WP 5: N 28° 08.532 W 015° 26.028
En la plaza en el extremo de la Calle Tomás Miller crecen en este arriate entre otras cosas algunos ejemplares de una planta con hojas amarillas-verdes. La segunda letra del género da E.
WP 6: N 28° 08.561 W 015° 25.996
En el lado del hotel de este arriate están dos bonitos ejemplares de un árbol que es muy típico de las Islas Canarias. Encuentras otro ejemplar en N 28° 08.558 W 015° 25.999. La segunda letra del género da F.
WP 7: N 28° 08.714 W 015° 25.848
¿Qué planta da sombra a la pérgola aquí, en el extremo de la Calle Fuerteventura? También las pérgolas siguientes son sombreadas por esta especie. La segunda letra del género da G.
Por cierto, aquí cerca, en la Plaza Suso Mariategui, se encuentra el geocaché GC36N2Z Las Canteras: La Puntilla de EvilBeaver78.

Especialmente pintoresco es el último sector de la playa con los barcos pesqueros. Es bordeado, por ejemplo aquí, por algunos árboles. La segunda letra del género da I.

Para concluir echamos aún una ojeada a la Calle Prudencio Morales. Una hilera de árboles aquí procuran sombra. La segunda letra del género da J. Update: Desgraciadamente los bellos árboles han sido tallados. Así, por favor, no hagas caso a los pequeños árboles actuales pero básate en esta foto – esta era la situación anterior:
El Caché
Ahora siéntate, disfruta de las vistas del mar – si no está calinoso desde aquí se ve claramente Tenerife con el pico más alto de España, el Pico del Teide – y calcula las coordenadas del final:

El caché es un small y puede acoger pequeños objetos de canje y trackables. Por favor, sé discreto – aquí puede haber muchos muggles – y repón el caché exactamente como lo has encontrado.
En el caché encuentras también un número para el bonus y uno más para el superbonus. Estos cachés aún no existen, pero ya que espero que este caché sea el inicio de una serie ya nota las cifras.

The Playa de las Canteras
is the more than 3 km long sandy beach of the capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas. The beach is popular with natives as well as tourists for swimming, surfing or simply walking. Partially protected by an offshore rocky reef, La Barra, it is also perfectly suitable for families with children.
All along the beach, from the rocky promontory La Puntilla in the north until the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in the south the beach is lined by a promenade, the Paseo de Las Canteras. A pedestrian zone, it invites to a leisurely stroll, cafés and restaurants galore offer sufficient possibilities for relaxing breaks.
The walk leads you to different plants along the promenade. It is necessary to recognise them. This task requires certain botanical knowledge or an investigation afterwards, and that is why this cache is classified as mystery. Each time you are looking for the scientific (Latin) name of the plant. The value of the second letter of the genus, transformed according to the usual system (A=1, B=2, …) amounts to the value you are looking for. If, for example, there was a Scots pine growing at WP1, the solution would be: Pinus sylvestris, thus i → 9, i.e. A=9. K+gw+a wishes you a pleasurable walk and good luck.

The following sector of the beach is called Playa de La Cícer. As this part is not protected by the reef, the waves are higher here and the area is mostly used by surfers. The youngest cachers will enjoy the playground at N 28° 07.956 W 015° 26.576.

There are three different plants growing in this triangular flowerbed at the end of Calle Velarde. Look at the tallest plant. The second letter of the genus gives C.
A little bit later there is another playground at N 28° 08.049 W 015° 26.444.

On the square at the end of Calle Tomás Miller there are a number of specimens of a plant with yellow-green leaves growing in this flowerbed. The second letter of the genus gives E.

On the hotel side of this flowerbed, there are two nice specimens of a tree which is typical of the Canary Islands. You find another specimen at N 28° 08.558 W 015° 25.999. The second letter of the genus gives F.

The cache
Now sit down, enjoy the view of the sea – in clear weather from here you can also clearly see Tenerife with the highest peak of Spain, the Pico del Teide – and calculate the co-ordinates of the final:

The cache is a small and can hold small objects for exchange and trackable. Please be discrete – there can be many muggels here – and put the cache back exactly as you found it.
