Geocache Description:

UK Mega Essex 2015

This trail was orginally laid for a geocaching hike, by 8th Chelmsford Scout group.

These caches are small to medium on footpaths, which can be extremely muddy. Suitable footwear is advised. (you have been warned)

This walk leads alongside private ground and through Blake's Wood, on to the car park. This car park is just down the road from Riffhams Scout camp. Blakes Wood has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest by English Nature due to its ancient woodland status and because the woodland is noted for its thick carpet of bluebells & anemones. It is also an important site of very rare woodland plants such as moschatel, narrow buckler fern, white climbing furnitory and several others. You can also find the nearby "Blake's Wood" cache http://coord.info/GCGQEA.

We take the scouts there a fair bit for camping and outings, which inspired the idea for this trail.

Cache placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
Congratulations to reglaw for FTF!!
