A little cache in a nice park. I double checked and yes, this really is ALMOND PARK :-) My first park cache to actually be named correctly. (Compare to nearby GC2X8CE "Arbor Park Cache," in Aster Park; and GC3C5RK "Aster Park Cache," in Arbor Park. Ooops!)
The park was originally named Shapell Park in 1968 when it was dedicated (according to the bronze plaque on the rock at the corner), and it still shows as Shapell Park on the Geocaching.com map. However, in 1995 the city renamed certain parks in the College Park East neighborhood so that all the parks' names now reflect the street they are on. So, this is now Almond Park (as reflected in the wooden sign a few paces from the rock at the corner) off Almond Avenue.
A TOTT might help for the shorties, may I suggest a bicycle? No dogs, sorry. Park is open from dawn to dusk. No parking second and fourth Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM for street sweeping.
