Ein Felssturz in der letzten Eiszeit bildete den See in Seewen.
Erst durch den Durchstich eines Tunnels 1588 wurde das Gebiet entwässert. Weil der Durchstich aber zu hoch angesetzt wurde blieb eine Moorlandschaft zurück. Erst durch ein Drainage-System, welches 1919-1923 verlegt wurde, wurde der Boden für die Landwirtschaft nutzbar!
Dies ist der Austritt des Durchstichs von 1588!
