Come and join me celebrate summer in style with a bring-your-own barbeque at the Wirral Country Park BBQ site in Thurstaston. Summer is all about relaxing, so just bring your food and watch it get cooked expertly by my own private chef. Jan of Wasmiss has also very kindly agreed to provide refreshments for attendees and I'm sure there will be water for any dogs attending. A huge thank you to the Greasby Scouts who, once again, have very kindly loaned the equipment being used.
There are picnic tables at the site but they are limited, so I would recommend bringing a chair of some sort. The barbeque area has been booked from 10am until 2pm but as always; you are more than welcome to arrive whenever you want. Saturday 17th August also happens to be the third International Geocaching Day and I believe that Groundspeak will be issuing a special souvenir for finding a cache on the day - all the more reasons to come!
Nearby, there is a visitor centre with information about the park and it also houses a brilliant bird hide. Toilets and a kiosk are also at the centre. A beach is in the vicinity, where Sir PhilPamAndRob’s EarthCache GC11X0C Gigantic Mud Pie can be completed. Of course, be careful with geokids and pets near the water. There are lots of other caches nearby, including a section of the Wirral Way power trail, two EarthCaches and some drive-by’s down Station Road. See this list for more information.
In the evening, I am also holding a games night meet at the Tudor Rose, prizes for the winners and a great night playing some ‘friendly’ competition! I hope to see you at both!
Sir Steve of Harveyjj has very kindly made another smashing badge for this event - take a look!
