Pen/pencil needed here.
Plenty parking and safe for children and dogs.
An easy cache with a twist. We were also celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary...thus the clue!!
We hope you continue on north( if that is the direction you are taking!!) to visit Grantown on Spey.
There are wonderful community owned woods around Grantown. If you have time the Kylintra/Grant park on your right has a new wood walk which is shown on the park map which takes about 30-45 minutes to wander round.
Grantown on Spey was a originally a planned settlement designed by James Grant whose family owned the huge Seafield estates in the area. It was inaugurated in 1765 and became a busy industrious town with farming and forestry as its main enterprise. The planning included a large 'Square' where you can enjoy a seat while 'people watching' and eating an ice cream!!
As the area had a reputation for natural beauty, wildlife and healthy fresh air with quaint Scottish traditions, it attracted many visitors from the prosperous busy cities in Scotland as well as south of the border ie England. A lot of grand houses were built using the local granite and pine timber.....houses to cater for the influx of visitors who enjoyed hunting, shooting and fishing as well as the culture and food of the Highlands of Scotland.
And so it is today...many visitors, nationally and internationally, come to this area to enjoy the unique attractions including whisky, wildlife (observation and photography), dancing, singing, haggis, kelpies, Munro bagging, walking, tartan, venison, geocaching, mountain biking, castles, salmon, canoeing, etc., etc. as well as to meet the friendly helpful inhabitants....2,166 at last census!!
We hope you will enjoy your visit to Grantown.
If you have just left Grantown...safe journey...come back and see us soon.
Congratulations and celebrations to Basiliskmyth for FTF!!
