Silver Sands CITO
Saturday April 20th
1 pm - 4 pm



Please join us to CITO Silver Sands (interior park area) in Milford CT. Silver Sands was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy so the State of CT appreciates our effort and willingness to CITO the park and will pick-up any garbage we collect.

Garbage bags and lightweight latex gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring work gloves and any other garbage removal tools that you see fit.

Charles Island
For those interested in visiting the island to find the geocache, low tide is at 1:27 pm. Please be advised that you should be ready prior to that time to begin your journey across as the tide goes down.

We'd love to end our day of hard work with a fun raffle. Raffle donations will be gladly accepted!

The early history of Silver Sands focuses on Charles Island. The Island is connected to the mainland by a sand/gravel bar (tombolo) that is submerged at high tide. Captain Kidd is reputed to have buried his treasure on the island in 1699. The only remains on the island are of a Catholic retreat center from the 1920's-30's. The island's interior is closed May 1 through August 31 to protect heron and egret rookeries.
