Alabama Veterans Memorial Park
Click on thumbnails for larger view. This cache is in the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park only 100 yards off the interstate. It may be the most beautiful and peaceful 22 acres you have ever seen and a fitting tribute to our fallen soldiers who are the true heroes of this country. You may park in their parking lot. Read the sign at the entrance. It says "invitees only" but in the next sentence it says visitors are welcome, strange wording. Be sure and see the memorial name room. All soldiers from Alabama who died in U.S. wars have their name listed on the walls of this gigantic room. I am just one of 11 thousand or so who has a relative listed here. My uncles name appears on the wall in the World War 2 section. The names are listed in groups by the county the soldier was from. If you are wearing a hat please remove it when you enter the name room. Even if you don't want to find the cache this place is worth a visit. There is no admission and no one is at the office except on weekends.
