Geocache Description:

This will be the third annual DEN Geocaching Day in North Carolina.  The DEN is volunteer educator community:  Discovery Education Network.  Educators are learning how to use geocaching in their classrooms, but lack experience. This is where you come in.  Adopt a teacher and take them caching.

In 2011, we hosted an event at Southwest Park.  2012 it was Hagan Stone Park.  This year, Cedar Rock Park.  Cedar Rock park is home to about 25 active caches.  Some old, some new.  Some challenging, some easy.  This will be an idea spot to teach new cachers about terrain and difficulty.

Of course, there will be a travel bug drop, a log to sign, door prizes by Discovery Education and Magellan, and a few surprises.

Meet at the parking lot near the posted coordinates at 9:00 AM.  We will have a brief orientation and then, break up, adopt teachers and teach them how to cache!

Cedar Rock Park is hosting the Disc Golf National Event that day.  It will be crowded near the entrance.  However, the park ranger told me that the back part of the park will be relatively quiet.  Try to car pool since the park will be very busy that day.

We are hoping to be able to provide lunch as we have in the past.  Here is a link to register in case we can get it sponsored again.  If you plan to stay until noon, please register for lunch.
