in our disclaimer.
This is a challenging five-stage cache that is designed to provide an adventure experience. Please allow at least one hour for completion. It requires several specific skills/tools, all noted in bold text, that you may or may not possess on your own. Be mindful of baseball and softball season, field activity, and general muggles which will affect your ability to complete this quest in one visit. Cache is not at posted coordinates. Bring your own pen, ink pad, and compass.
Dear Intrepid Adventurer,
It is with great satisfaction that I hear you are a fan of my literary novels having read everything in my Voyages Extraordinates series including: Five Weeks in a Balloon, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, In Search of the Castaways, The Mysterious Island, Around the World in Eighty Days, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. My editor tells me of your great accomplishment — a feat most noteworthy.
I have toiled for nearly 40 years outlining the vast knowledge of modern science within the fifty-four novels. I have explored my sense of wonder and curiosity for the natural world and the various methods of exploration within this great globe via land, sea, and air. Although, despite my meticulous attention to detail and scientific accuracy, I feel that I have neglected one primary factor — it is you, my loyal reader. You have been afforded the luxury of armchair exploration without immersing yourself in real-world adventure. Today while you warm yourself before your hearth, sip your black tea, and feast on warm crumpets, I urge you to close the book of my imagination and explore the physical world around you.
I have instructed my editor, equipped with a wealth of means and manpower, to construct a real-life facsimile of my imagination. The five challenges are based on excerpts from my many journeys, all of which should be completely familiar to you. It would serve you well to wisely compose the members of your party who match the following criteria: 1) a clever cryptographer; 2) a scientist familiar with the principles of light and invisible wavelengths; 3) a radio operator with a keen ear, familiarity with Quick Response and Morse communication, and in possession of a global tranceiver; 4) a nimble young lad unafraid of climbing vertical heights; 5) an orienteer familiar with the concepts of bearing, pace, and step; and 6) and an unspecified companion with an observant eye for details. Your provisions should include tools of the trade that will assist your specific team members, water, and nutrients to sustain your activity through task completion.
If you have made it thus far in my correspondence I assume that you have willfully accepted the challenge; therefore, assemble your team and gather your provisions to begin your adventure. Your first challenge lies below:
Stage 1/5: Journey to the Center of the Earth
Professor Lindenbrock has instructed the members of his house to go without food until he cracks the following code. Employ the services of your cryptographer to aid the Professor. Your first waypoint is hidden within: UILNG SVYLG GLNLU GSVXL MXIVG VHGZR IDZBH VGZYV ZIRMT ULIGD LSFMW IVWVR TSGBU LFIWV TIVVH DVHGK ILXVV WLMVS FMWIV WGSRI GBHRC HGVKH LIGSI VVSFM WIVWU VVGZM WXLMG RMFVB LFIQL FIMVB GLGSV XVMGV ILUGS VVZIG SLMXV ZIIRE VWOLX ZGVZK LOBNV IVMXZ HVWXL NNFMR XZGRL MWVER XVDVO OZYLE VBLFI SVZWB LFNZB IVJFR IVZXL NKZMR LMLUG ZOOHG ZGFIV LIVCX VVWRM TZINO VMTGS.
Mind the company of common passersby whom are not currently playing the same game as your expedition. If questions should arise regarding the above quest or what is expected from you, please contact my editor via telegraph or traditional means and he will be pleased to advise you accordingly (without revealing too much, of course). Godspeed my friend and I truly wish you the best of luck in your adventure!

P.S. Upon your task completion, I will furnish a final box full of trinkets worthy of an explorer such as yourself. The contents of such have been painstakingly collected from my various world travels. Please select one item of sentimental value and retain it as your keepsake.
About the King of Letterboxing Series
A letterbox hybrid cache is a cross between a traditional letterbox and a modern geocache. There will be 26 total caches in this series and each will include a custom stamp, specifically made for the cache. You will need to bring your own ink pad (black is suggested for King of Adventure). Use our stamp to mark your own notebook or journal. Feel free to stamp the logbook with your own, personal stamp. Please do not remove these stamping items from the cache. Learn more about the series by reading our blog.
FTF congrats to THC73 and RICK+REESII DOG!
TOP SECRET CODE ENCLOSED! Inside this cache you will find one of 25 clues, printed on a narrow strip of laminated paper, needed to solve the final King of Letterboxing. Please do not remove the clue from the cache. Please do not share the clue with your best caching buddy. Copy the text (case is very relative) into your puzzle solving notebook and save it for later. If the clue is missing from the cache, please let me know so that I can replace it. If you already found this cache prior to publication of the final letterbox, email me for the top secret code.
