Geocache Description:

Lovely peaceful location at the side of Loch Eribol. A place to sit and enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful views

This geocache was posted over the Easter weekend 2013. It was a lovely sunny day with snow on the mountains round Loch Eribol. The tide was very high, making this bay into a lovely calm, secret, blue pool. The raised beach around the pool added to the feeling of it being hidden. At low tide the pool is mostly emptied, leaving a shore of sand and shingle with the river running through it, still with a lovely blue pool. Loch Eribol is a long deep sea loch which cuts deep into the North Coast between the Moine and Durness. Coming round Loch Eribol, you drive between lush green fields on the limestone on the eastern side. Once you turn up the west side, the whole nature changes as you cross on to the quartzite. Quartzite is a hard, rock formed from sandstone, which has undergone heating and high pressure. The rocks are distintivily bright white, which contrast against the dark peat moorland. This cache is hidden near the southern end of Loch Eribol on the western shore. From the bridge, a sheep path on the northern bank of the stream leads eastward towards the sea. There is parking for one car by the bridge, opposite the passing place. Otherwise, there is ample parking a couple of hundred metres or so to the north of the bridge at the end of a track on the west side of the road.
