This is a new series being put out over the course of the next few weeks highlighting the little villages that make up Tioga County.
This cache is placed at the Apalachin Library. The library was established in 1957 On the McGalde family’s front porch. From 1960-1082 the library moved to various locations including a school house, the Apalachin Methodist church and the Grange Hall on E. Main St. In 1967, a board called the Friends of the Apalachin Library was formed and in 1968 our reading center became affiliated with the Finger Lakes Library System. After closing for a time, the library,in 1992, relocated to it’s current location . In May 2008 the Reading Center obtained a provisional charter from NY State and became the Apalachin Library Association.
