This is a new series being put out over the course of the next few weeks highlighting the little villages that make up Tioga County.

This cache in Evergreen Cemetery in Owego NY  Established in 1851.  Included in the cemetery is a section for the Civil war Burials. The boundary line of that section is accentuated with four cannons, creating an impressive appearance. There is also a potter's field located at the lowest point. Although here are many burials in it , there are only a few small stone markers. Most in this section have metal pegs with a number stamped into the top of them.  Also a section is reserved for Firemen and Masons.  It is 51. 2 acres in size.  In 2002 it was honored with the distinction of being added to the state and national historic places register.   There are several prominent individuals buried here.

The Cache is located quite close to SaSaNa's Loft Monument.
The monument commemorates the life of a young 21 year old Mohawk Indian Maiden,  Who traveled through the area on a musical tour with her family in 1852.  Who tragically died as the result of a train accident while in the area.
