One of the less known parts of DuPuis is the Powerline Grade along the eastern perimeter. A one way trip is 13 miles long and can be traveled on foot, bike, horse, or car. As the name implies, the shellrock road parallels high tension power lines running south from the FPL Indiantown plant. The southern half of the road runs between a canal (with many resident alligators) and the adjacent Corbett WMA. You may also see otters, deer, birds and various Florida fauna. Bringing your camera is recommended! Happy caching!

The Florida bobcat (Lynx rufus floridanus) is a feline native to Florida and one of 13 subspecies of bobcat in North America. Bobcats are larger than housecats, but smaller than panthers and cougars. Besides their intermediate size, the most distinguished feature of bobcats and lynx is their tufted ears, whiskered cheeks, and short bobbed tail. Bobcats are gray, brown, and/or orange in color, usually with spotted fir and black bars on their forelegs. Bobcats are predators, most commonly feeding on other small mammals.
From 1996 to 2001 there was an Arena Football team named the Florida Bobcats based in SE Florida.
