This is a micro camouflaged cache one of a series around Buntingford, Puckeridge and Standon. Eventually the Buntingford series will make a circular walk. Buntingford is the smallest town in Hertfordshire and dates back to 1185.The original settlement was in the parish of Layston near the church of St. Bartholomew which was built in the 13th century. The church is known locally as Layston Church and is currently being converted into a dwelling. Over the centuries the settlenment of Buntingford moved down the valley to its present location. There is a pay and display car park in Bowling Green Lane and parking on the streets of Buntingford. Be aware of the parking limits in some areas. There are many footpaths and bridleways on the eastern side of Buntingford, most of which are well used, so look out for mugglers. After rainfall the paths do tend to get muddy so come prepared with wellies or walking boots.
