Geocache Description:

If you grew up in Western New York you have probably heard of the entertainment venue which once occupied this location.  Of course we are referring to Melody Fair.  This theater in the round first opened on this site in 1955 under a big top tent.  In time, the tent was replaced by the iconic Melody Fair dome.  Melody Fair played host to many of entertainment’s greats at one time or another during its 30 years as a fixture here in North Tonawanda.  The Melody Fair stage was graced by entertainers such as Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rodgers, Roy Clark, George Thorogood and many more.

Though its 30 year history is marred by periods of poor management and financial problems, Melody Fair has maintained a special place in the hearts of many who have fond memories of spectacular summer concerts there.

In 1985 Melody Fair closed its doors for good and after standing vacant for many years was demolished making way for the store that occupies the location now.

For many this spot will always be Melody Fair; now silent, except for the melodies that will play on in our memories for all time.

This location is VERY busy so super stealth is required.

Please return the container sealed tightly just as you found it.

If you have a fond memory of a concert or event at Melody Fair please share it in your log post and help keep the memory alive.
