Geocache Description:

The is an easy solve-as-you-go multi with the final on the upper Boulder Loop.

WP1: Start at N33° 10.017', W117° 03.118'
Here you will find a bench.  These benches are placed along the trails of Daley Ranch but this one has some interesting markings.

Count the number of leaf sets (both single and paired leaves).  This number = A

Count the number of visible stems on all leaves and subtract 2.  This number = B

WP2: go to N33° 10.240', W117° 03.086'
We know you'd rather power on to the top before pausing but let's stop here for a moment.  While we're here catching our breath, notice the bench.

Count the number of legs.  The number = C

How many trees within arms reach are shading the bench (if you're lucky)? Take away 1.
  This number = D

WP3: go to N33° 10.325', W117° 03.003'
Have you been noticing these vegetation ID signs as you walk around Daley Ranch?  This one has special meaning for geocachers because we talk about this stuff all the time.  The green sign has a number at the top.  The second digit of that number divided by 2 = E

Add the two digits together.  Then add 2 to that. This new number = F

At this point you have all of the numbers you need for the complete coordinates but the cache is still a hike away. The cache is at N33° 10.CBD W117° 03.EAF  There has been a lot of high level math here so before you go further verify your results with these checksums.  N=21 W=31

WP4: go to N33° 10.501', W117° 03.101'
This one is a freeby.  It places you across from the trailhead of the correct trail to get to the cache.

Bring water, something to write with, and in case of an emergency a cell phone; you'll be over a mile from the car coming or going.  Be sure to also bring info on the other caches in the area so you can make it a more productive hike.  Grab a trail map at the parking lot info kiosk near WP1 if you need one.  Also keep in mind that they chain the parking areas closed shortly after sundown and the Ranch is not available at night. That's when the woodland critters roam freely to feed.
