Geocache Description:

The Shannon trail needed a cache darn it - so here it is!

I was out hiking the Garstin, Shannon and Henderson trails today, with an ammo-can in tow inside my back pack. I noticed a large blank area, mainly the Shannon trail, and thought hmmm...lets plant a cache while out finding the others along the way today. It took some searching, but found a good area for a hide.

I parked at the cul-de-sac at the end of Bogert Trail where the Garstin trailhead is. You can probably hike in from other trailheads as well, but I'm not sure where their starting point are. You can also go up the Henderson from the same starting point as the Garstin - its the 'lower' path to the left. Don't let that fool you, once you turn onto the Shannon trail you will go up in elevation. From either trail you will go up approximately 1000 feet in elevation. Bring plenty of water - extra in fact and of course watch out for dangerous desert critters.

Once you come to ground zero be careful with your footing so you don't do cartwheels down a cliff. The cache is 10-15 feet off the trail with a fantastic view of the wash below. I wanted to make the terrain challenging, but no ropes or anything like that needed. My GPS usually has a 15 feet radius of error - hopefully coords will be spot on.

Congratz to Patfurg and Mayofurg for both being the FTF!
