Geocache Description:

This is the third in a series of caches dedicated to Firefly fans.  Contents refer to the episode represented (in this case, episode 3, "Bushwhacked").

This is a medium geocache in official container from Geocaching.com.   Cache contains several items related to Episode 3.

Each cache in the Browncoats series has a "higgledy piggledy" about the episode on the first page of the logbook.  This may contain spoilers, so if you haven't seen the show and want to, skip the poem!  Please do not take Firefly-related items unless you can replace them with other items which refer to this episode.  That will be the fun for geocachers--figuring out something clever to leave.  There are some items labeled for use by anyone.

Important Note:  This cache is located inside Bear Creek Lake State Park, and visitors who are not staying overnight must pay the day use parking fee ($2 weekdays and $3 weekends, at time of placement--April 2013).  Please report to the main entrance and pay this fee before you head to the coordinates to look for the cache.  Also note that you MUST use the overflow parking as indicated unless you are an overnight guest in one of the cabins.  Please do NOT park in front of any cabin unless you are the guest there.

Please take care in re-hiding this cache. If you are not careful, it will be clearly visible from the path below. If that happens, children find it and remove it. So far, we've been lucky and the cache has been returned to the ranger, but we can't count on that always happening. I have added some additional camouflage; please use it! Thank you so much for your help in keeping this cache active!
You can take a nice hike around the lake and find four different caches. Remember that your GPS gives you distances as the crow flies, though, not as the path wends. Get a trail map from the park office before you set out. You can hike the perimeter of the lake, but you will travel part of several different trails in order to do that, rather than hiking around on one trail. Near as I could tell, it was roughly 3.5 miles all the way around (we walked nearly 4.5, but we got off the right trails a few times!).

Note:  GPS is bouncy!  You should be on the uphill side of the trail; use your geosense. This is a pretty typical hiding place.
