A quick park and grab near the Madaket Mall (aka the dump). Bring your own pen/pencil. In summer this may be a fun place to bring kids and a bag of chicken legs and string to 'catch' snapping turtles.
This site has an amazing panoramic view of the dump. This particular landfill has THE HIGHEST recycling rate in the United States (beating San Francisco in 2009) with over 92% of the trash being recycled. It is so efficient the 'pile' is now being mined and put through a digester creating a sterile top soil. If you come here stop in and head towards the Take it or Leave it or the Mall and pick up some free swag for your geocaching bag. Or a couple of books, cutlery, clothes or whatever! It may also be a future site to windmills giving us clean energy. On August 7, 2014 Tiger Slash, Flame and I are moving off island to Colorado. We are placing a magnetic travel bug on The Eagle turning the The Eagle into a a travel bug. On that 2+ hour ride you will have plenty of time to find it! Please, don't move it or remove it.
