Cedar Hill Cemetery is still active. There are many old gravestones, and most are in excellent condition. There are some really interesting gravestones for a few Civil War veterans - not only do they have very detailed carvings, but they also have informative epitaphs. Two of the soldiers died "of disease contracted in Southern prisons." Another gravestone states that the soldier is buried in Cheraw, South Carolina, where he died. The cemetery is very well maintained by the Brownsville Cemetery Association.
Located in the back corner not near any of the gravestones, therefore please
do not disturb them.
As with all cemeteries - please respect dawn to dusk hours.
