What is big, gray, and has horns?
This woods has a large number of beech trees. The beech tree is most easily identified by it's smooth grey bark the resembles an elephant's legs. Each cache in this series has an elephant joke in the description and the punch line in the cache container.
Beech bark is extremely thin and scars easily. Since the beech tree has such delicate bark, carvings, such as lovers' initials and other forms of graffiti, remain because the tree is unable to heal itself. These scars can allow a fungal infection to attack and kill the tree.
