Geocache Description:

This can be a quick park and grab, but I hope that people stop and read the historical signs about NJ's oldest intact bridge that was built in 1730. The area is only cleaned once per year for the local Battle of Bound Brook Festival, so any "cache in, trash out" would be helpful for others to enjoy this historic beauty.

Pull into the parking lot at 50 South Main St in Bound Brook, NJ. Park next to the small pump house or somewhere in the trucking company's lot. You'll see the Old Stone Bridge just on the other side of the concrete barriers that protect the bridge from being damaged by the trucking company's vehicles. You're looking for a small, black film canister . Its placed in a spot that I think a person in a wheelchair can reach the cache so I’m indicating that its wheelchair accessible.

This cache is referred to as the "Bridge to Nowhere" as its mostly buried and no longer functions as a bridge since the "Green Brook" no longer flows underneath. Only the top and buttresses are exposed and the roadway above was once a part of Old York Road that was the major thoroughfare of its day for travel between NY City and Philadelphia. Its strange to think that most of our forefathers traveled this road on route between NY City and Philadelphia and now it simply stops in a gravel parking lot with trucks.
