Geocache Description:

Even though white-tailed deer are a very common resident of this park, there are many other species of deer that are not seen here. This cache is dedicated to one of those species.

The water deer, also known as the vampire deer, is a small deer superficially more similar to a musk deer than a true deer. Native to China and Korea, there are two subspecies: the Chinese water deer and the Korean water deer. Water deer are indigenous to east-central China, and in Korea, where the demilitarized zone has provided a protected habitat for a large number. They inhabit the land alongside rivers, where they are protected from sight by the tall reeds and rushes. They are also seen on mountains, swamps, grasslands, and even open cultivated fields. Water deer are proficient swimmers, and can swim several miles to reach remote river islands.

Cache is a small sized, clear container hidden in a typical manner. Please use stealth as you may be seen from the trail. Bring your own writing utensil. Hide back as found and properly concealed.

The cache is located not far from the trail so bushwhacking further than that is not necessary and is discouraged to reduce impact on the environment. Please replace as found. You must sign the logbook in order to claim credit for this find.

Please park at the coordinates shown in the Waypoint table and start your walk at the Trail head coordinates. There are other parking areas and trail access points available also.

Enjoy your walk, hike or bike ride along the "Purr Fect" trail. Plenty of nature's wonders to see along the way. We have placed other caches for you to find while you make your way along this trail!
