ΑΡΧΑΙΑ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΝΑ (ΛΑΞΕΥΤΟΙ ΤΑΦΟΙ)


Αν περιπλανηθεί κάποιος στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της Αρχαίας Ελεύθερνας http://holiday-homes-rethymnon.com/el/2010-01-29-14-25-34/7-2010-01-30-11-07-17.html μπορεί να συναντήσει απρόσμενα, υπέροχα σημεία με τα σημάδια της διαρκούς κατοίκησης του χώρου από τα τέλη της 4ης χιλιετίας π.X. σποραδικά και  οργανωμένα από την Πρωτομινωική περίοδο 2800 - 2100 π.Χ ως τον 12ο αι. μ.X.

Σε μια τέτοια περιοχή βρέθηκα ακλουθώντας ένα  καθαρό μονοπάτι που  ξεκινά από τη γέφυρα Ελληνιστικών χρόνων, συνεχίζει σε  αρχαίο ανηφορικό καλντερίμι και σε φέρνει σε λαξευτούς τάφους στο βράχο σε υπέροχο φυσικό τοπίο. Έβαλα λοιπόν εκεί ένα κουτάκι γιατί νομίζω ότι αξίζει την επίσκεψή μας.
Το καλοκαίρι προτιμήστε πολύ πρωινή ώρα ή αργά το απόγευμα για να αποφύγετε την ζέστη.

ΠΩΣ ΘΑ ΠΑΤΕ


1.                 Αν θέλετε να περπατήσετε πολύ και να βρείτε αρκετά από τα κουτάκια της περιοχής διαλέξτε από το δίκτυο μονοπατιών στην περιοχή, που βλέπετε εδώ στο everytrail http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2073726.

2.                Αν θέλετε να περπατήσετε λίγο ελάτε στο χωριό Ελεύθερνα και πάρτε τον στενό ασφαλτοστρωμένο δρόμο που οδηγεί στις αρχαιότητες στην περιοχή Ορθή Πέτρα που δυστυχώς δεν είναι επισκέψιμες. Δεν στρίβετε για Ορθή Πέτρα αλλά συνεχίζετε στο χωματόδρομο μέχρι το σημείο R1 για να ανοίξετε την περίφραξη και να πάρετε το στενό μονοπάτι που οδηγεί στη γέφυρα. Αφήστε εκεί το αυτοκίνητο πάρτε το μονοπάτι,περάστε από τη γέφυρα των Ελληνιστικών χρόνων και συνεχίστε μέχρι τους λαξευτούς τάφους. .

3.                  Για να περπατήσετε ελάχιστα. Υπάρχει ένας ασφαλτοστρωμένος δρόμος που ξεκινά λίγο έξω από το σύγχρονο χωριό Ελεύθερνα και καταλήγει λίγο έξω από το χωριό Αλφά. Στο δρόμο αυτό καταλήγει το καλντερίμι-μονοπάτι των λαξευτών τάφων. Το κουτάκι είναι σε απόσταση 200 μέτρων περίπου από τον δρόμο.Σας δίνω το σημείο R2 που ξεκινά το μονοπάτι.

ANCIENT ELEFTHERNA(ROCK CUT TOMBS)


If someone wanders in the area of Ancient Elefternahttp://holiday-homes-rethymnon.com/en/2010-01-29-14-25-34/7-2010-01-30-11-07-17.html, he can encounter unexpectedly wonderful places with signs of continuous inhabitation of the area since the late 4th millennium BC sporadically and organized inhabitation by the Early Minoan period 2800 - 2100 BC until the 12th century AD.

I was found in such a region by following a clear path from the Hellenistic bridge that became an ancient slated uphill road and led to tombs carved in the rock in a beautiful natural landscape. So there I put a cache because I think the place is worth a visit.
In summer is better come here early in the morning or in afternoon to be not so hot.

HOW TO GET THERE


1.If you want to hike for long time  and find many of the caches in the region, choose the path network in the area that you see here in everytrail http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2073726.

2. If you want to walk a little (less than an hour). Come to the modern village Eleftherna and take the narrow asphalt road that leads to the antiquities in Orthi Petra (unfortunately closed to visitors). Do not turn to Orthi Petra but continue on the dirt road until the point R1 Ι give you for the place you can enter the fence. Leave your car there and follow the path that start behind the fence, pass the bridge of the Hellenistic period and continue until the carved tombs. .

3. If you want to hike about only 15 minutes. There is an asfaltic road that begins just outside the modern village Eleftherna and ends just outside the village Alfa. The path that arrives to the rock cut tombs stars at that road. I give you the point R2 you park and start the path.The cache is located about 200 meters far from the road.
