School Days - Tipperary School Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am archiving this cache due to the unfortunate lack of action taken to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, Team M-B, requesting additional time.

Despite ample opportunities provided for the Cache Owner to respond, their silence leads me to the conclusion that the cache has been abandoned.

In such cases, archived caches will not be unarchived, and as a result, this location is now open for the placement of a new cache by another interested party.

Thanks,

Balayang

Geocache Description:

A short series honouring some historic school sites in country WA. Tipperary school, originally located on Tipperary Farm, approx. 8km from the York town centre, was built in 1874. Tipperary school existed in 3 buildings, this being the second one. A third was built at Burgess Siding.

In 1986, with the school having long been abandoned and in danger of disintegrating beyond repair, the York Society recognised its value as one of the few remaining single teacher schoolhouses in the district and embarked on an ambitious project to save the building which had been gifted to the Society by then proprietors of Tipperary Farm. Dismantled brick by brick, the schoolhouse was transported to town where it was re-erected in the grounds of the Sandalwood Yards on Avon Terrace. Much of the work was carried out by volunteer members. For more information on the historic school, go to: http://www.yorkdhs.wa.edu.au/History/Part%206.pdf
