This is a drive by or could be collected while on a circular walk (or cycle) from Startforth to Egglestone Abbey and back on the other side of the river to Barnard Castle following the way marked footpaths.
The container is a small lock it lid style suitable for a few swaps and trackables.
We chose this area for our first cache hide as a few years ago we stopped here on a bike ride and were treated to a Kingfisher flying up and down over the water looking for his lunch. It was a treat that we have not forgotton, hence the name. If by car, you are best driving from the main road between the A66 and Barnard Castle as if heading for Egglestone Abbey.
The cache is situated near to the ruins of the Cistercian Egglestone Abbey but not in the grounds of it. This is an English Heritage site and is free to enter and has a free carpark. You could either park here and take the short walk to river side or use a smal pull in parking area next to the cache site. In busy periods, as this is a narrow road, this area is also used for vehicles to pass.
