Moss & Maples

Maple trees and moss it seems,
Make pictures that fit our dreams.
All soft and deep you drift away,
Day dreaming of another day.
When perhaps you still were young
Before by life you had been stung.
When everything you knew told you
That life was always kind and true,

So even now it seems to me
As walking down these paths I see
The gnarly maple all clad in moss
That innocence is not quite lost.
Knights and maids and dragons great
Those things as adults we eliminate
Can still survive here in this mystic place
Amid the moss and maple’s embrace
