Historic Community Town Hall
The historic Martinborough Town Hall celebrated it's 100 years of service to the community in 2012 in a cloud of uncertainty as to it's future. The hall which is available for hire is often used for music concerts particularly jazz since it has very good acoustic qualities.
The hall which is of mainly brick construction opened on 17 September 1912 has been described as "earthquake prone". As a consequence the South Wairarapa District Council is calling for submissions on 4 different proposals for it's future which include, earthquake strengthening, partial and full demolition and reconstruction of a new town hall as options.
