FBI BAU Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan is a blackbelt in Judo and runs FBI self-defense classes. He used to be in the bomb squad and was a Chicago Police Officer. After his father died when he was ten, he got into trouble and earned himself a juvenile criminal record. A local youth center coordinater acted as a surrogate father and helped Morgan earn a football college scholarship, but he also sexually abused him. He was being looked at to replace SSA Joiner and head up the New York field office. Hotch doesn't recommend him though because he doesn't trust his co-workers.
