Ammo box, great to place and get travel bugs.
While Ocala is the horse capitol, however, since 1876 it has also been home to the Iron Horse. Railroads have helped our community grow. Railroads that have been here include: the SSO&G (Silver Springs, Ocala and Gulf), the Ocala Northern (later called the Ocklawaha Valley Railroad), the Atlantic Coast Line ( or ACL, originally the Florida Southern) and the Seaboard Air Line. Ocala now has two existing railroads. This railroad themed cache is located near the Ocala Model Railroaders Historic Preservation Society's club house and placed with their permission. The club house includes a railroad museum and large layouts in both HO and N scale.
The Ocala Model Railroaders have been a presence in Marion County since 1996. They continue to bring excitement and knowledge of both model and real trains to Marion County residents and visitors. They have both stationary and traveling layouts as well as a museum that continues to grow. They have had an annual working display at the "Trains At The Holidays" held at the College of Central Florida's Webber Center since 1997. They also have had displays at the various libraries, the Lion's Club Train Show and many other public displays throughout the county. Meetings nights are Tuesday evening, everyone is welcome. Guests are welcome anytime a club memeber is there.
Watch out for muggles along the street, especially when the children are walking to and from school.
