Geocache Description:

small camoed cache with log only. Bring your own writing instrument.

Rock walls have been used for thousands of years to delineate property lines. As modern building techniques evolved or property is consolidated throughout the years, their importance decreases and they are abandoned. I always found it interesting when I come across a rock wall where I least expect it: What did the original property look like? Why a boundary here?

This is the 13th in a series highlighting forgotten rock walls that I have come across, usually while geocaching. The others are available at the following link:

Listing of Forgotten Rock Wall caches

Mt. Hope Park contains remnants from the mining operations that went on here during the 18th through the 20th centuries. Rock walls, abandoned mines, substinence pits, slag piles, water towers and other mining detrius dot the landscape.

This cache is located along the orange trail at what appears to be the foundation from a small building that was here. You can avoids the thorns by leaving the trail about 50' before the cache. Check out the other fine caches in the park to learn more history of the area. However, do not wander far from the trails in here!

Parking is available at the posted waypoint however you can park unofficially in other places closer to the cache.

Congrats to jaimsjaimison on the FTF!
