Geocache Description:

This is my first solo event. Come celebrate Cinco De Mayo with us. What is Cinco De Mayo you ask?

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla). It originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War, and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day—the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September 16.

This is an eat and greet event being held at Cinco De Mayo Mexican Restaurant in Lyons, Indiana. They have a full menu of authentic mexican cuisine. They also serve burgers and fries for those of you that would like to attend but don't like mexican food. We will be gathering at 3pm (1500) in the right hand side of the restaurant as you enter the door. Its a seperate banquet style room. All persons are responsible for their own bill. This should be a nice relaxing way to end a weekend full of geocaching in the area. Saturday May 4th, the day before this event there are 2 events being held in Vincennes Indiana.

"Will Attend" logs are by no means mandatory for this event but they are encouraged so that the business will be ready to accomodate us.

This is an inside event and they have a children's menu. All cachers are welcome, bring your friends as well. Hopefully we can get them hooked on caching and some fantastic food. The owner knows what geocaching is, in fact we even took him to find one once and he enjoyed it quite a bit. If there is something that you normally like to eat but you don't see it on the menu just tell the server and they will try their best to have the cooks match your taste buds. There are even things that aren't on the menu that we order all the time. Deep fried Jalepenos being one of them. They also have a dish that is named after the owner, Jose "Alfredo" Moreno. It is called the Alfredo Special. It's a plate of cheese nachos with shrimp, chicken and jalepenos, it's topped with guacamole and sour cream with a slice of tomato. Coke products and several alcoholic beverages fill out the drink menu. Please be responsible and respectful of the event attendees. This restaurant is fully handicap accessible.
