Geocache Description:

Alviso was first settled in the 18th century. The community was named for Ignacio Alviso, the son of Corporal Domingo Alviso, one of the original members of the de Anza expedition.  The floods of the early 1980s were devastating to Alviso, especially because Alviso is below sea level and is on marshland. Water was as much as 10 feet deep in some locations. A number of homes and businesses were destroyed. Some of the picturesque character of the town was lost.

This is a small cache that many people look up to. Be sure to bring a pencil!
