 La Grotta dell'Edera
anche chiamata "Arma do Sambrugo" e collocata nell'area carsica di Finale Ligure e si apre nella cosiddetta 'Pietra di Finale' una roccia di calcare detritico ed organogeno permeabile e pertanto carsificabile. Proprio sul punto di contatto tra questa roccia e le rocce sottostanti, che sono molto meno permeabili, si sono sviluppate molte grandi grotte, con antri di ingresso tanto estesi da aver attirato anche i nostri progenitori che li hanno utilizzati come riparo.
La Grotta dell'Edera posta internamente alla falesia denominata "Parete Dimenticata", deve il proprio nome dalla massiccia presenza dell'edera che ne ricopriva le pareti sia internamente che esternamente, oggi quasi del tutta scomparsa a causa dell'attività d'arrampicata.
Ha la forma di un grande cilindro roccioso suddiviso in due parti, la Grotta dell'Edera Inferiore e Superiore a cielo aperto, generato dal crollo della volata che ricopriva questa.
Alle coordinate di questo Earthcache troverai l' ingresso inferiore mentre il terrazzo dal quale ci si può affacciare, con molta circospezione, al finestrone che immette nella sala superiore è indicato indicato dal vicino Traditional Cache "La Grotta dell'Edera".
Da qui potrai risalire la grossa frana fino alla parte più alta che tramite uno stretto passaggio ascendente permette di accedere alla base del grosso pozzo a cielo aperto, cioè la parte superiore della grotta. E' presente una corda in loco utilizzata come corrimano.
Ecco i 4 quesiti di questo Earthcache:
1) Entra nella grotta dell'Edera Inferiore e guarda il soffitto, molto alto, che si presenta in forma di cupola a spirale:
a) A cosa è dovuta questa sua forma ?
b) Stima l'altezza della grotta inferiore .
2) Ora sali la grossa frana (con l'aiuto delle corde, attenzione fondo fangoso e scivoloso!) fino alla parte più alta dalla quale potrai attraverso in piccolo passaggio accedere alla Grotta dell'Edera Superiore.
a) Quanto è grande il buco dal quale devi passare ?
b) Perché questo buco è così fondamentale per la genesi della grotta ?
3) Ora sei nella parte superiore, alla quale ti sarai già affacciato dall'alto se hai trovato prima il traditional cache.
a) Prova a spiegare brevemente perché questa grotta è senza soffitto, a cielo aperto .
b) Dai una stima dell'altezza .
4) Scatta delle foto di te o di qualunque altra cosa che ti è piaciuta particolarmente e allegala al tuo log.

 The Grotta dell'Edera
is also called " Arma do Sambrugo” and is situated in the karst of Finale Ligure. It opens into the so-called "Finale Stone", which is a permeable and organogenic rock of limestone and therefore carsificabile. Exactly on the point of contact between this rock and the rocks below, which are less permeable , many large caves have developed. These caverns with huge entrances have already attracted our ancestors who used them as shelters.
The Grotta dell’Edera is located inside the cliff called "Forgotten Wall". The cave takes its name from the massive presence of ivy (Edera) that covered the walls both internally and externally, which now due the activity of the climbers has almost disappeared.
The cave is shaped like a large rock cylinder divided in two parts: The Lower Grotta dell'Edera and the Upper part, which is open-top due to the collapse of the bed that covered the cave.
The coordinates of this Earthcache lead you to the inferior entrance, while the terrace from which you can have a careful look onto the window that leads into the upper hall, is indicated by the nearby Traditional Cache "Grotta dell'Edera".
Once you enter the lower Grotta dell'Edera, you can go up the big landslide and grovel through a narrow ascending hole until you reach the base of the large, open-top pit, i.e. the upper part of the cave. You will find a rope to be used as a handrail.
Here are the 4 questions for this Earthcache :
1) Enter the lower Grotta dell’Edera and look at the very high ceiling which appears like a dome-shaped spiral:
a) What is the genesis of this form ?
b) Estimate the height of the lower cave .
2) Now go up the big landslide (with the help of ropes, careful it’s muddy and slippery!), crawl through the hole until you reach the Upper Cave.:
a) How big is the diameter of the hole you have come through ?
b) Why is this hole so relevant for the genesis of the cave ?
3) Now you're in the superior part. You might have already looked on this part from the top, when you were trying to find the traditional cache.
a) Try to explain briefly why this cave is open-top ?
b) Please estimate its height .
4) Please take photos of yourself or anything you particularly liked and attach it to your log .

 Die Grotta dell'Edera
ist auch als "Arma do Sambrugo" bekannt und befindet sich im Karstgebiet um Finale Ligure. Sie öffnet sich in dem sogenannte "Stein von Finale" einem wasserdurchlässigen und organogenen Kalkstein.
Genau am Kontaktpunkt zwischen diesem speziellen Kalkstein und den darunter befindlichen, weniger wasserdurchlässigen Felsen sind in dieser Gegend viele große Höhlen entstanden. Diese Höhlen mit grossen Eingängsbögen haben bereits unsere Vorfahren, die sie als Unterschlupf verwendeten, angezogen.
Die Grotta dell'Edera liegt innerhalb der Felswand namens "La parete dimenticatal" (Die vergessene Wand). Die Höhle hat ihren Namen von der massiven Präsenz des Efeu (Edera), welches die Wände innen und außen bedeckte, nun aber aufgrund der massiven Praesenz von der Kletterer fast verschwunden ist.
Die Höhle hat die Form eines riesigen Zylinder, der in zwei Teile geformt ist: Die Untere Grotta dell'Edera und der Obere Teil, der aufrund eines Deckeneinbruchs oben offen ist.
Die Koordinaten dieses Earthcache führen Dich zum unteren Eingang, während sich die Terrasse, von der Du vorsichtig einen Blick durch das Fenster auf den oberen Teil der Höhle werfen kannst, oberhalb an dem nahegeliegenen Traditional Cache befindet.
Nachdem Du die Untere Grotta dell'Edera betreten hast, kannst Du den großen Erdrutsch mit Hilde des Seils hinaufklettern und dann oben durch das schmale Loch, durch welches Du in die Obere Grotta dell'Edera gelangst, kriechen.
Folgend die 4 Fragen welche wir Euch bitten zu beantworten um diesen Eartcache zu loggen:
1) In der Unteren Grotta dell'Edera schaue hinauf an die hohe, kuppelförmige und spiralförmigen Decke:
a) Wodurch kam es zu dieser Form ?
b) Schätze die Höhe der Höhle .
2) Jetzt steige den großen Erdrutsch (mit Hilfe von Seilen, vorsichtig , es ist schlammig und rutschig ) hoch und krieche durch das Loch, bis Du die obere Höhle erreichst:
a) Wie groß ist der Durchmesser des Lochs durch das Du gekommen bist ?
b) Warum glaubst Du, ist das Loch für die Entstehung der Höhle so relevant ?
3) Jetzt bist Du im oberen Teil, den Du vielleicht schon zuvor von oben durch das Fenster hast sehen können.
a) Versuche kurz zu erklären, warum diese Höhle unter freiem Himmel liegt .
b) Bitte gib eine Schätzung der Höhe .
4) Bitte mach Fotos von Dir oder von irgendetwas was Dir hier besonders gefallen hat und füge es Deinem Log bei.
