8th Street Regular Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SirKarp: Sadly the time has come. I really tried to keep this one going, but in this case I just don't see this being a good place to bring cachers. The area the cache is in will be developed soon, and there have been rumors that illegal activities have been taking place in the woods there. I just don't think this is a good place to be bringing cachers anymore. The only other option would be to move the cache a safe distance from the woods and then I don't think it would really be the same cache anymore. So the time has come to shut this one down.

At 1 1/2 years old this cache was found 177 times. Thank you to mcampb2 for the FTF, and to FrenchyfromEastside for the last to find and everyone in between.

Geocache Description:

Please note that the cache is NOT located on, in, below or anywhere near the mailboxes.  If you find yourself looking at the mailboxes you are way off and need to try again.  You will be very close to powerlines, and we all know how that can affect your GPS readings, so definatly a good idea to have the hint available while your looking.  You are looking for a regular size camoed cylindrical container, the hint will lead you right to it.

Photo of the street sign by CartartheCacher on June 8th 2013, please note that the sign is no where near the cache and the sign has nothing to do with the cache I just wanted to showcase this photo.

The 8th Street Regular Cache is located just off of 8th Street, it should be a fairly quick park and grab, with just a few feet to walk once you exit your geo-mobile.  While this cache should be easy to locate with the hint, the muggle factor can be a bit high at times, as the road can be very busy, both with cars and pedestrian traffic. It is best to block the entrance road to the woods by parallel parking in front of it. This will help keep you concealed while your at GZ. Once parked walk into the woods on the entrance road going towards the gate, yes I know it is laying on the ground but it is still there. Once you are at the gate you are very near the cache. If you need more of a hint read the hint, it will lead you right to it.

I find it interesting every time I drive past this undeveloped wooded location, on one side is the church, on the other side is the storage units and shopping center.  There are housing developments across the street.  So I wonder, why is this small track of land undeveloped.  Not that I am complaining, it is a nice quiet spot if you walk into the woods.  It just seams a bit odd to me.

I always like to add some interesting or historical information to my cache description pertaining to the area.  Since I couldn't come up with anything on this little track of land I thought I would just mention that the lowest temperature on record for the Issaquah Plateau AKA Samammish, Washington was -3 F in February 1950 and the highest temperature on record was 102 F in August of 1960.

One last reminder,  that the cache is NOT located on, in or below the nearby mailboxes.

Congratulations goes to mcampbe2 & Thejokerqueen as CO-FTF
