Hidden on one of the restored piers that forms the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Take in an amateur soccer game after hunting for this cache. The nearest building on the landward side of the pier is an apartment condo complex. Before this it was a warehouse used by the Jehovah's Witnesses. Before that it was a warehouse built in 1928 used to store dry goods shipped into New York by one of the shipping companies. And even before that it was a warehouse owned by Franklin Woodruff that was built in 1876. Several years after it was built, the East River Bridge (now known as the Brooklyn Bridge) was completed (in 1883) and an effort to consolidate New York City (which was then just Manhattan) with Brooklyn began. As a prominent politician (and onetime candidate for Mayor of Brooklyn), Franklin Woodruff opposed the consolidation. As it turns out, he died in 1898, the same year that Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island became New York City. I'm not sure if he lived to see it or maybe it's what killed him.
