A little info on the abby ruins which are well worth viewing.
Wall footings and the east wall of Dale Abbey, a house of
Premonstratension Canons founded c1200. Late C13. Rubble
gritstone and ashlar. The main surviving fragment is the great
arch of the chancel east window. It has a finely moulded arch
and indications of geometrical tracery, similar probably to
Newstead Abbey and the Angel choir at Lincoln. Part of the
north west return wall survives with part of the jamb of an
arch. To the west the footings of the walls of chancel and
transepts partly survive. Scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
