Geocache Description:

A nice little drive along a bumpy country road. Owls and Kestrels are often seen along this route. Let us know if you think the D/T rating needs to be changed. We've looked at other caches and think this is fair.

This is a route we enjoy taking as an alternative to driving along the ring road to Long Eaton. Depending on which way you come from you may go over a bridge that gives views of the A453 and the current work being undertaken to widen it. This single track lane is a bumpy little road so racing along it is not recommended. As it is a single track lane, please be aware of oncoming traffic and the ditches that drop away from the slim grass verges. There are passing places but they are not frequent. Take care also in times of flooding - parts of this lane quickly become impassable by anything except a tractor! Very occasionally the gates are shut, however, you cannot get locked in, just return the way you came.

The ditch of the cache title is where we spent a frantic 45 minutes trying to get our Land Rover out after having backed it onto the sodden edge following the flooding that occurred in December 2012. The rear passenger side of 'Andie the Landie' was 5' deep in muddy water, engine still running, stereo still playing and blowing bubbles from the submerged speaker, front drivers wheel about 4' in the air with Cowboy hanging on for dear life while I ran to get help! Thankfully a very helpful 4x4 driver from the nearby Sawley Marina and the local farmer with his HUUUUGE tractor pulled 'Andie' to safety. Its a New Years Eve we will never forget...

Please BYOP and replace the cache exactly as found.

**This cache is NOT in the ditch & No special tools required!!**
