Geocache Description:

This is a completely accessible series of caches around part of the beautiful Holton Lee Estate, placed with their kind permission. The facilities at Holton Lee have been designed and built to ensure accessibility to everyone. Holton Lee covers an area of 350 acres. The majority of the site is recognised and protected as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and contains habitats which include heathland, saltmarsh, reedbed and woodland. Parking is plentiful near the main buildings at the given co-ordinates, but the management request only one visit to find caches and enjoy the experience to be had at the Holton Lee site. Further visits can be made but you will have to obtain a permit by contacting the estate. Please do not park on the access road and adhere to the speed limit, which is put in place to protect the New Forest ponies which graze the heathland. Also definitely no night caching or bicycles. The second phase is a series of 10 caches on accessible paths in fantastic woodlands and open spaces, caches are easy to approach and find (hopefully!) but help may be required to recover one or two caches. Total distance is just over 2 miles on very good mainly flat paths with some small inclines. Wheelchair users should not attempt caches #9 & #10 as there are no hard paths to them. Please respect the environment, close gates to protect livestock and we reget that dogs are not allowed 1st April until 31st September because of ground nesting birds. The estate has a range of vehicles which include trampers (off road scooters) and a golf buggy which are available for hire for disabled people on site. Finally please replace and re-cover caches as found and enjoy. Admire the view and look out for deer, foxes and the many birds that enjoy the scene. From Horseshoe Pond, cross back to wheelchair friendly path and head towards the left of the hut. More able-bodied cachers may wish to do #9 and #10 from this point but these 2 are not wheelchair friendly.
