Beyond Six Miles #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

glazedglasses: It is time. We had a lot of fun hiding this little mini-series of caches, but yes, it is time to now archive them. We haven't been able or had the time to maintain them like we should, and that is a big factor as to why we are archiving them. It's not fair to have cachers drive all the way out to try to find them if the caches are missing or not in good condition. We made a day...President's Day...of it, going out and collecting all of the containers. We invited the Mountain Jewels Ranchers to help us find and retrieve them, and they were able to hang in there to find about 18 of them. THAT was a lot of fun! The sky was beautifully blue, but there was a brisk and chilly breeze off and on. Indeed, only one container was missing. Sigh...there were several of the hides that were really pretty fun, but now the road out to the end of Six Mile Hill and Beyond Six Miles will be open for other cachers to hide some caches. Thanks to everyone that found our hides!

Geocache Description:

This is #1 of 15 more caches beyond the Six Mile Hill mini-series.  The road out to these hides isn't always accessible during inclement weather.  Most of these hides are pretty easy and almost drive ups.  Sometimes the coords danced around a bit, but with 2 GPS's, we did our best to average between the two of them for the closest numbers.  When out finding rural or out in the woods types of caches, it's nice to know some of the kinds of trees that are in or near the area.  Each hide will have a brief description of a kind of tree.  We hope that you find the descriptions informative, and that they will aid you when you are out caching in the woods.

SUGAR PINE (Pinus lambertiana) - A most distinct and magnificent pine.  It reaches a height of 160 to 180 feet tall with a trunk diameter of 4 to 7 feet.  The needles are in bundles of 5, and 2 to 4 inches long.  The cones grow to be from 12 to 16 inches long, and 2 to 3 1/2 inches wide.

Congratulations to mtlassen for being FTF!
